Presentation

The Library of the Institut Scientifique is certainly the oldest scientific library in Morocco, since it was created in parallel with the Institute in 1921.

It comprises a unit with historical (since 1866) and multidisciplinary volumes, the Central Library, as well as 6 speciality wings in Geology, Geophysics, Geomorphology, Remote sensing, Botany and Zoology (see photo gallery).

The documentary fund comprises:

– 16 000 books and maps;

– 2 100 titles of periodicals.

At present, the Institute receives more than 250 titles periodicals, most of which through exchange agreements (see list of acquisitions in 2007). These journals are sent from more than 170 institutions located in 36 countries around the world. Numerous books are bought, or received as gifts or exchanges.

OPENING HOURS

The wings are open from 9 to 15 from Monday to Friday, except on holidays and in August.

For the Central library, because of the building work, visits are limited and need a previous appointment. Please contact us and specify your request at library.israbat@gmail.com

Consultations can only be done in place. Exceptionally, borrowings can be done for a limited time under the responsability of a supervising researcher of the concerned department. A very limited number of copies can be realized in place under the responsability of a researcher.

REQUESTS

Requests for documentation can be treated, with the condition that the requested documents should not be too voluminous nor numerous.
